Thriving in a Hotter L.A.: Turning Los Angeles into a Global Model for Urban Sustainability
The IoES and Women & Philanthropy at UCLA joined together to present “Thriving in a Hotter L.A.: Turning Los Angeles into a Global Model for Urban Sustainability.” IoES Associate Director Mark Gold moderated a panel of prominent female faculty at UCLA including the Institute’s Stephanie Pincetl, Hilary Godwin from the Fielding School of Public Health, Cara Horowitz from the School of Law, and Aradhna Tripati from the departments of Earth, planetary and space sciences and atmospheric and oceanic sciences. This panel of university experts discussed the exciting new campus-wide, interdisciplinary Grand Challenges Project. The goal of the initiative is for the L.A. region to use exclusively renewable energy and local water by 2050 while protecting native biodiversity and enhancing our quality of life.
