Arab Media Forum: A Step Toward Change
Oppenhiem Lecturer Randa Fouad, President of the Arab Media Forum for Environment and Development, explains how her organization helps journalists throughout the Middle East learn and write about environment and sustainable development issues.
Ms. Randa Fouad, President of Arab Media Forum for Environment and Development, a writer and a journalist, has over 25 years of national, regional, and global experience in the field of sustainable development, awareness raising, and communication through developing and managing the implementation of information dissemination strategies, organizing media consultations, and mobilizing the mass media around development issues. Randa is a member of the Egyptian Press Syndicate. She has managed the Regional Information Component of the UNDP-funded Urban Management Programme (UMP), one of the largest global technical assistance programs in the urban sector. Also, as the Development Communication Advisor to Egypt’s Minister of State for Environmental Affairs, she helped in establishing a Development Communication Unit and assisted in designing the Ministry’s National Environmental Information Program in support of Egypt’s National Environmental Action Plan. She prepared Regional Strategy and Action Plan for raising public awareness on Water as Human Right (Mass Media perspective) as an International Consultant of UNDP Water Governance Programme for Arab States (WGP-AS), the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
