Teenagers represent about 13% of the total U.S. population and have the potential to exert a powerful collective drive toward environmental protection in society. The goal of this project is to empower teenagers to act as energy conservation stewards within their households.
In this project, we developed an interactive teaching module accessible on mobile devices that provided teenagers with information about energy use at the appliance level, energy conservation strategies, as well as tools and tactics that they can use to influence their parents to conserve energy. The teaching module included an educational video, interactive games, and a quiz/game to assess teenagers’ knowledge of energy efficiency.
This project is funded by the California Public Utility Commission and the Borchard Foundation.
