The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) selected the California Center for Sustainable Communities (CCSC) at UCLA, with support from the Los Angeles Regional Collaborative for Climate Action and Sustainability (LARC), to facilitate the R. 22-11-013 “Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Program Cost-Effectiveness Issues, Data Access and Use, and Equipment Performance Standards” Data Working Group.
In Track 2 of R. 22-11-013, the Commission will examine the rules and requirements to improve data access to facilitate adoption, evaluation, and utilization of DERs. The Data Working Group (DWG) was created to further these efforts. The CPUC DWG will meet from August 2024 through January 2025, bringing together interested stakeholders to assess their data needs, use cases, and desired delivery tools. Under the guidance of CCSC and LARC, it will examine regulatory modifications needed for improved DER data access including privacy and confidentiality rules, and cybersecurity issues. The DWG efforts will culminate in a draft and final report with recommendations for the CPUC to consider.
