Lauren Miura leads communications for the UCLA Sustainable LA Grand Challenge (SLA GC). She is focused on using strategic communications to advance SLA GC’s goals of achieving 100 percent renewable energy, 100 percent local water and enhancing ecosystem health in L.A. County by 2050.
Prior to joining UCLA, Lauren served as a senior strategist and writer for Social Capital, a fundraising agency serving leading nonprofits — including American Cancer Society, Best Friends Animal Society, National Trust for Historic Preservation and UNICEF USA. She also spent nearly a decade at The Nature Conservancy, where her experience spanned internal communications, donor communications, partnerships, brand marketing and writing. She began her career as a reporter covering energy and environmental policy for Greenwire and E&E Daily.
Lauren holds a BA in journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MPA with a nonprofit administration specialization at the City University of New York- Baruch College.
