Taylor Guitars
Every Taylor guitar features a piece of ebony, sourced from the West African country of Cameroon.
Cameroon has a healthy inventory of ebony, but deforestation rates, fuelwood demand, and other stressors are an increasing threat to the native forests. Scientists are needed to better understand how to enhance ebony stocks and manage this resource sustainably. Ideally, these opportunities would be given to local scientists, but limited resources and infrastructure have historically forced Central Africa’s brightest students abroad for their studies, without opportunities to return.
Taylor and the Congo Basin Institute work together to invest in central Africa’s top minds and promote sustainable practices.
