La Kretz Center Public Lecture Postponed Until Fall 2024

See below a Letter from Director of the La Kretz Center, Dr. Brad Shaffer.

Dear Fellow California Conservationists,

As you may be aware, the UCLA campus has joined many others across the country in a number of protest activities over the last week. UCLA leadership has shifted many activities, including all teaching, to pivot from in-person to online formats. Although the campus is not closed, I feel that it is in the best interests of both our attendees and the university more generally to postpone the 2024 La Kretz Public lecture, which is currently scheduled for this coming Saturday, May 11th at 3:00 PM. I apologize for the late notice, but the situation on campus has been quite fluid, and we are making key decisions as events unfold.

The good news is that our two amazing speakers, Cat Darst, and Scott Morrison, have agreed to reschedule the event. It will be held on the first Saturday of the Fall quarter, September 28th, 2024, at 3:00 PM. This will be a wonderful way to kick off the 2024/25 UCLA academic year and perhaps to assemble an even more amazing event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the US Endangered Species Act.

Once again, I apologize for the change in timing on short notice, and we hope that you can join us in September. A new RSVP email will be coming out soon— please, put it on your calendar for the fall!

Take care,

Brad Shaffer
