KLCS/UCLA show Sustaining US wins two Golden Mike awards

Sustaining US on KLCS PBS Los Angeles — in partnership with the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability — has won two Golden Mike awards for excellence in broadcast journalism.

On May 21, the Radio & Television News Association honored Sustaining US host and reporter David Nazar with the Golden Mike for Best Individual Writing (Division B) for his investigative report about lead poisoning in Los Angeles. Nazar and KLCS PBS were also awarded Best Environmental Reporting (Division B) for a special report about how the Port of Los Angeles is implementing new environmental policies and strategies to help reduce the decades of air pollution from the Port.

“I am privileged to report and produce news stories that affect change and honored that RTNA recognized our work with the Golden Mike awards,” Nazar said.

UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability has contributed to the first three seasons of Sustaining US, providing expert scientists and researchers for the PBS broadcast.
