High school student working in UCLA IoES La Kretz Center lab wins first place in the California State Science Fair

Congratulations to Tai Michaels for winning first place in the Environmental Division of the Los Angeles Science Fair as well as winning first place in the California State Science Fair!

He is a high school student working in the Rundel lab with Justin Valliere, UCLA IoES La Kretz Center for California Conservation Science postdoctoral researcher.

Tai did an excellent job developing and executing his project aimed at understanding effects of shorter fire return intervals on chaparral vegetation. His project could not be more timely and valuable.
